Product Description
The Air Quality PM1/PM2.5/PM10 Sensor – BMV080 is a highly miniaturized, fan-less particulate matter sensor designed for real-time air quality monitoring in space‑constrained applications. Leveraging the ultra‑compact Bosch Sensortec BMV080 sensor—just 4.4 × 3.0 × 3.0 mm³—this module delivers precision readings on PM1, PM2.5, and PM10 levels in a form factor over 450× smaller than conventional sensors. Its innovative laser and photodiode system provides reliable measurements without requiring active airflow or fans, reducing complexity and maintenance. Compatible with a Qwiic I²C interface for plug-and-play connection and an optional SPI mode, it also includes standard headers for more traditional prototyping setups. Jumper-configurable I²C addresses (0x54–0x57) facilitate the use of multiple sensors on a single bus. Capable of detecting particulate concentrations from 0 to 1000 µg/m³ with 1 µg/m³ resolution, its precision is outstanding—±10 µg/m³ below 100 µg/m³; ±10% thereafter—making it highly suitable for environmental sensing in smart homes, purifiers, thermostats, wearable devices, and compact IoT monitoring platforms. Powered via a standard 3.3 V Qwiic connection, this sensor consumes less than 68 mA during active readings and just 30 µA in sleep mode, with a rapid ~1.2-second startup time—ideal for battery-powered or energy-sensitive systems. The package includes both the breakout and a lens protective enclosure, and online documentation includes a hookup guide, schematics, and an Arduino-compatible library to simplify setup and integration.
