MatterCatalog open data

MatterCatalog is an independent catalog of Matter smart-home devices. It lists 2,705 records, and 1,860 of them carry a certificate from the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) matched to the exact model. All of it is free to download or query: no key, no sign-up. Data as of .

Get the data

Static files on a CDN, free to download, script against and cache. They change only when the site is rebuilt, so there is no need to fetch them more than once an hour.

curl -s https://mattercatalog.com/api/products.json \
  | jq '[.data[] | select(.certificationStatus == "certified")] | length'

What is in it

Every record is in one of four groups. Listings show the first group by default; the other three are labelled on their pages.

Catalog records by listing group

Sold outside the US outside-us407

Each record also carries the answer its product page gives to "Is it Matter certified?":

How the data is built

1. Certificates come from the CSA

Every certification fact comes from the CSA, the standards body behind Matter. The catalog's bulk import read the CSA's Distributed Compliance Ledger (DCL) on Feb 24, 2026. We read the whole ledger again on Oct 5, 2026: 5,428 certification records for 4,625 certified product models (one model per vendor ID and product ID); 1,515 of those models have a certificate on a product we list. We also check the CSA's certified-product pages. A record counts as certified only when a certificate is matched to that exact model. A CSA record that names the product but not its retail variant says so, and a Matter claim with no certificate is labelled "certification unverified".

2. Product details come from makers and stores

The network (Thread or Wi-Fi) and the platforms (Apple Home, Google Home, Amazon Alexa, SmartThings) come from the maker's own page or the store listing we link. When neither states them, the field stays empty rather than guessed. We do not test devices hands-on.

3. Store links are checked against the exact model

We add a store link only after the listing matches the exact model, including pack size and variant, on the store's US site: for example, a GTIN or UPC on the store page that equals the record's. Links that turn out to lead to a different product are removed. 880 records show 1,367 store links at 119 stores.

4. Prices are not in the open files

The downloads have no price column and the API's price is always null. Product pages show Amazon prices from Amazon's Creators API and other stores' prices read from the store's own page, each with the time it was checked. They are hidden once they are older than 24 hours (Amazon) or 48 hours (other stores).

5. Everything is rebuilt with the site

Every number on this page and every file above is computed from the catalog when the site is built, with the same rules the product pages use.

How MatterCatalog makes money

Affiliate links. Of the 1,367 store links on product pages, 939 are affiliate links: when you buy through one, the store may pay us a commission, and you pay the same price. 669 of them are Amazon links (Amazon Associates); the rest go through the eBay Partner Network or brand programs run through CJ, Impact, Rakuten Advertising or Awin. The other 428 links earn nothing, and product pages label them "Direct, non-affiliate link".

No display ads, no sponsored placement, and no brand or store can pay for a certification label. Whether a store pays us does not decide which products we list. When Amazon sells the exact model, product pages list it first, then the other stores we found. The CSV and JSON downloads contain no store links. In the API, Amazon links carry our Associates tag; other stores' links are listed as their plain store pages. Affiliate disclosure · Editorial policy

Known limits

  • Coverage. The CSA ledger lists 4,625 certified product models; so far 1,515 of them have a certificate on a product we list. The bulk import dates from Feb 24, 2026; models certified since then are added in reviewed batches.
  • The ledger is not everything. The CSA's website lists some certificates that are not on the ledger.
  • Missing fields. 1,103 records have no confirmed network and 1,022 list no platform. Empty means not stated, not "no".
  • Claims without certificates. 734 records claim Matter support with no certificate matched; their pages say "certification unverified".
  • US stores only. Store links are checked on US stores. 407 records are labelled as sold outside the US.
