Using MatterCatalog data

MatterCatalog does not sell data licenses, white-label products or API keys. The catalog is published as a free public API: static JSON files that anyone can download, with no key and no sign-up. The developer page documents the endpoints and shows sample responses.

What the API contains

2,832 API records under 471 brand names: the 1,071 Matter products sold in the US that the catalog lists, plus 1,159 certification records, 68 unverified listings (no CSA certificate or US store link yet), 407 products sold outside the US and 127 component certifications. Filter by the fields you need before you show the records to shoppers.

  • Product fields: name, brand, category, Matter network protocols and ecosystem compatibility.
  • Certification fields: the CSA certificate ID and certification date, where we matched a record. An empty certificate field means we have not matched one, not that the device is uncertified.
  • Store links: the same links our product pages show, for the stores we matched to the exact model. Amazon links carry our Amazon Associates tag; links marked purchaseKind: "direct" are plain links that earn us nothing.
  • No prices: the price field is always empty. Store prices change, and the price at the store's checkout is the one that applies.

Limits of the data

  • Certification fields come from the Connectivity Standards Alliance's public records. For a decision that depends on certification, check the CSA's own records; how to verify Matter certification shows how.
  • Records can be out of date or wrong. We correct confirmed errors as we find them, and the files change when the catalog does.
  • The files are served as they are. There is no uptime guarantee, service-level agreement, custom feed or embeddable widget.

Terms

Using the API, like the rest of the site, is covered by our Terms of Service. They say the site may not be used in connection with any commercial endeavors except those that are specifically endorsed or approved by us. If you plan to use the data in a commercial product, or to republish it, email team@mattercatalog.com first and tell us what you plan to build.
