What's New in Matter 2.0

Cameras & Video Doorbells

For the first time, security cameras and video doorbells can operate over Matter. This means your Ring, Nest, and Arlo cameras will be able to work across ecosystems — view your Ring camera in Apple Home, or your Nest cam in SmartThings.

Robot Vacuums

iRobot, Roborock, Ecovacs, and other manufacturers can now build Matter-native robot vacuums. Control cleaning schedules, zones, and modes from any Matter controller.

Energy Management

Solar inverters, EV chargers, smart panels, and battery storage systems now have Matter device types. This is huge for whole-home energy management and could significantly impact how we interact with our home's energy usage.

Enhanced Scenes & Automations

Matter 2.0 introduces more sophisticated scene and automation capabilities, allowing multi-device coordinated actions that work across different manufacturers.
