Hue lights with a Matter-over-Thread certificate, sold in the US
Hue says every Hue product, new or existing, works with Matter through a Hue Bridge, and that Matter-enabled Hue bulbs can instead connect directly through a Thread border router. We matched Hue’s US store pages to CSA Matter certificates by Hue part number (12NC): these 10 lights are certified variants whose CSA listing names Thread and Bluetooth. For 5 of them Hue’s own US specifications list Matter “Via Hue Bridge or 3rd party hubs (thread border routers)”; for the others the CSA certificate is the evidence, so check for the Matter logo on the box.

Still Bridge-only: Hue bulbs without Matter (Hue says its Bridge supports all Hue products, including older bulbs without Matter) and Bridge features such as Adaptive Lighting in Apple Home. KAJPLATS bulbs sold in the US
9 KAJPLATS bulbs in our catalog have a verified US store link. Every one lists Thread and has a CSA Matter certificate on file, so it joins Matter through a Thread border router and a Matter controller, with no IKEA hub required for Matter. Hue lights on a Hue Bridge take the bridge path above; Hue’s Matter-enabled bulbs can take the direct Thread path.

Bridge for supported Hue lights
Philips Hue Bridge
The US listing we link is the standard white square Bridge. It connects by Ethernet and shares supported paired Hue lights with Matter. It is distinct from Bridge Pro and the older round bridge.
Requires a router Ethernet port, power and Hue app setup. This Bridge is not a Thread border router or a general-purpose Matter controller. Check the Bridge you already own before buying another.

Driver for compatible integrated IKEA lighting

EU article 506.094.44 powers compatible integrated lighting: up to eight lighting units within 30 W combined. It takes 220–240 V input and supplies 24 V output. Its job is to power and dim lighting; controller and Thread border-router roles are still needed for phone control.
FÖRNIMMA power cord and remote are sold separately. Follow the exact regional assembly instructions. We could not confirm the retail requirements of the North American E2513; check them with IKEA US.

Before you choose
IKEA KAJPLATS or Philips Hue: which should I choose?
Start with what you own. IKEA’s KAJPLATS bulbs are Matter-over-Thread lights: they join a Matter platform directly through a Thread border router and a Matter controller, with no IKEA hub required for Matter. Every Hue light can reach Matter through a Hue Bridge, and Hue’s Matter-enabled bulbs (Matter logo on the box) can also join directly over Thread, with no Hue Bridge. If you already have a Hue Bridge, adding Hue bulbs keeps one system and Hue’s Bridge-only features; if you are starting fresh with a Thread border router, KAJPLATS and a Matter-enabled Hue bulb both skip the brand hub. Check the exact bulb base (E26, E12 or GU10 in the US) and region.
Do I need a branded hub for every Matter bulb?
No. Supported Matter-over-Thread bulbs can connect through a compatible Matter controller and Thread border router. That is a different path from pairing older Zigbee lights to a bridge. Verify the exact bulb, controller and platform instructions.
Are all IKEA lights Thread devices?
No. Older TRÅDFRI Zigbee lighting and newer Matter-over-Thread products are distinct generations. IKEA documents DIRIGERA as a bridge for supported older devices and as a Matter controller with Thread border-router functionality.
Do all Philips Hue lights need a Hue Bridge for Matter?
No. Hue’s Matter FAQ says newer Hue lights that are compatible with Matter (the Matter logo on the packaging) can connect without a Bridge, through a Thread border router such as an Apple HomePod mini, Amazon Echo (4th gen) or Google Nest Hub; its setup guide names Hue Essential bulbs such as the A19. Hue products without the Matter logo still need a Hue Bridge for Matter, which Hue says works with all Hue lights and accessories. Direct setup skips Bridge features such as Adaptive Lighting in Apple Home, and a bulb already on a Bridge must be removed from it before you pair it directly. An ordinary Bluetooth-only setup does not provide Matter.
Will Matter expose every lighting feature?
No. Check the controls supported by your chosen platform. Hue lists its Play HDMI sync box and the Tap dial switch’s dial function as exceptions to Matter support. Manufacturer-app scenes and entertainment features are separate from the controls exposed through Matter.
Which setup costs less?
Compare the exact local bulb or kit, plus any missing bridge, controller, border router and accessories. A bulb-only price and a complete system price are different totals. This guide does not claim a brand-wide price advantage.
Is IKEA DIRIGERA or the Philips Hue Bridge better for Matter?
They do different jobs. IKEA says DIRIGERA includes Thread border router functionality and acts as a Matter bridge so older Zigbee-based devices keep working in your smart home. The Hue Bridge is a Matter bridge for Hue lights and accessories, old and new; it is not a Thread border router. Pick the hub that matches the lights you already own. For new KAJPLATS bulbs or Hue’s Matter-enabled bulbs you need neither: a Thread border router and your platform’s Matter controller are enough.
Are KAJPLATS and Hue’s Matter bulbs certified?
Yes, for the ones we list. All 9 KAJPLATS bulbs sold in the US and all 10 Hue Matter-over-Thread lights in our catalog have a CSA Matter certificate on file; each product page shows its certificate ID.
