Matter motion and presence sensors

Every motion and presence sensor in our catalog that is sold in the US, has a CSA Matter certificate matched to the exact model, and whose certificate the CSA records as an occupancy sensor. A Thread sensor also needs a Thread border router, so check your network and platform first.

What to check before you buy

  • Thread or Wi-Fi

Of the 9, 7 use Thread and 2 use Wi-Fi. A Thread sensor needs a Thread border router as well as your platform’s Matter controller; a Wi-Fi sensor needs only the controller. Apple says: “Thread-based accessories require a Thread-enabled home hub such as Apple TV 4K, HomePod (2nd generation), HomePod mini, or a compatible third-party Thread border router.” Google says that for Thread devices you need a hub device that also works as a Thread border router. Amazon’s developer documentation names the Echo (4th Gen), Echo Hub, Echo Show 10 (3rd Gen), Echo Show 15 (2nd Gen) and Echo Show 21 as Echo devices that are Thread border routers (checked October 1, 2026).

  • Your platform shows motion sensors

Apple’s support page says: “The Home app currently supports these types of Matter accessories: air conditioners, bridges, lights, locks, outlets, switches, thermostats, blinds and shades, and sensors (motion, ambient light, contact, temperature, and humidity).” Google’s list of supported Matter device types includes Occupancy Sensor, the device type every sensor on this page is certified with, and Google adds: “Device types other than the ones listed here are not officially supported in the Google Home ecosystem.” We hold no Amazon statement on which Matter sensor types Alexa supports; the table shows where the maker’s own page names Alexa.

  • Motion or presence

By the names their makers registered on the CSA’s ledger, 5 are sold as presence sensors (Aqara Presence Multi-Sensor FP300, Lafaer Wireless Human Presence Sensor LWR01, Meross MS600, Meross Smart Presence Sensor MS605 and Shelly Presence Gen4) and 3 as motion sensors (Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, Eve Motion (Matter) and IKEA MYGGSPRAY wrlss mtn sensor); Aqara Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400 is named neither way. All are certified with the same Matter device type, occupancy sensor, so the name does not tell you how each one detects people: compare detection range, mounting and power on the maker’s page before you buy. For 6 of them (Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, Aqara Presence Multi-Sensor FP300, Aqara Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400, Eve Motion (Matter), Lafaer Wireless Human Presence Sensor LWR01 and Meross MS600), the csa-iot.org product page names another of the device’s sensor types (light sensor and humidity sensor) as its primary device type; the model each maker registered on the ledger is the occupancy sensor.

Every certified Matter motion and presence sensor sold in the US

9 sensors with a verified US store link, one row per store listing; each has a CSA Matter certificate matched to the exact model, and the CSA’s records give that certificate the occupancy sensor device type. A platform is named only when the maker’s own page names it.

Current prices load here, lowest first. Amazon prices come from Amazon’s product data and show for 24 hours after retrieval; other stores’ prices show for 48 hours after our check. A price is for the pack the listing sells.

Frequently asked questions

How many Matter motion sensors are there?

MatterCatalog lists 9 Matter motion and presence sensors that are CSA certified and sold in the US with a verified store link (one per store listing): Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, Aqara Presence Multi-Sensor FP300, Aqara Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400, Eve Motion (Matter), IKEA MYGGSPRAY wrlss mtn sensor, Lafaer Wireless Human Presence Sensor LWR01, Meross MS600, Meross Smart Presence Sensor MS605 and Shelly Presence Gen4. The CSA’s records give each one’s certificate the occupancy sensor device type.

Do Matter motion sensors need a hub?

A Thread sensor needs a Thread border router as well as your platform’s Matter controller; a Wi-Fi sensor needs only the controller. Of the 9, 7 use Thread and 2 use Wi-Fi.

Do Matter motion sensors work with Apple Home, Google Home and Alexa?

Apple’s support page says: “The Home app currently supports these types of Matter accessories: air conditioners, bridges, lights, locks, outlets, switches, thermostats, blinds and shades, and sensors (motion, ambient light, contact, temperature, and humidity).” Google’s list of supported Matter device types includes Occupancy Sensor. Counting only makers’ own pages, of the 9 on this page 4 name Apple Home, 5 Google Home, 5 Amazon Alexa and 5 Samsung SmartThings.

Which Matter motion sensors use Thread?

Aqara Motion and Light Sensor P2, Aqara Presence Multi-Sensor FP300, Aqara Spatial Multi-Sensor FP400, Eve Motion (Matter), IKEA MYGGSPRAY wrlss mtn sensor, Lafaer Wireless Human Presence Sensor LWR01 and Meross Smart Presence Sensor MS605: their records name Thread as their Matter network. A Matter device that uses Thread needs a Thread border router in the home as well as your platform’s Matter controller; a Wi-Fi device needs only the Matter controller.

What is the difference between a Matter motion sensor and a presence sensor?

On this page both kinds are certified with the same Matter device type, occupancy sensor, so the certificate does not tell them apart. By the names makers registered on the CSA’s ledger, 5 on this page are sold as presence sensors and 3 as motion sensors. Compare each maker’s detection specifications before you buy.
