Samsung SmartThings has been a pioneer in smart home interoperability. The SmartThings Hub (v3) and SmartThings Station support Matter, acting as both controllers and Thread Border Routers. SmartThings also supports bridging — meaning your existing Zigbee and Z-Wave devices can be exposed as Matter devices to other platforms. Samsung's smart TVs, refrigerators, and washing machines with SmartThings built-in can also serve as Matter controllers.
How to Add Matter Devices to Samsung SmartThings
- Make sure your Samsung SmartThings controller (hub/speaker) is updated to the latest firmware.
- Put your Matter device in pairing mode (usually by holding the setup button).
- Open the Samsung SmartThings app and tap "Add Device."
- Scan the Matter QR code on the device or its packaging.
